This stage is not just about hormones. It is about thresholds—emotional, spiritual, and generational. In this chapter of life, we are invited to confront what we have carried, often in silence, and to reclaim what we need in order to move forward whole.
What follows is a transparent moment from my own journey, a real-life experience that unfolded during the writing of this book. I share it not as a cry for sympathy, but as a mirror for anyone who may find themselves in the tender tug-of-war between being a giver and being a Goddess reclaiming her peace.
A grounded way to explain 'The Chrysalis Stage'
The Chrysalis Stage is the phase of menopause we are rarely taught how to respect. It is not the beginning, and it is not the emergence. It is the in-between, the suspended moment where the old self has dissolved, but the new self has not yet fully formed. In nature, the chrysalis is not a time of rest. It is a time of radical reorganization.
The caterpillar does not ‘improve’ itself into a butterfly, it actually liquefies. What no longer serves, is broken down by nature. What will become essential is preserved.
For women, menopause initiates this same process, physically, emotionally, spiritually. Our hormones shift, our identities loosen, our relationships tend to go through re-evaluation, and our energy is reclaimed. But because we don’t name this stage as a sacred transition, women are often rushed, medicated, silenced, or told to just ‘push through.' The Chrysalis Stage is not dysfunction. It is divine design. It is the moment when a woman must stop performing who she was, in order to become who she actually is.
The Menopause Goddess does not emerge from constant productivity. She emerges after surrender, composting, and truth-telling. Chrysalis Stage is where her essence is formed, quietly, invisibly, and without apology. This stage does not mean withdrawal from life.
